        Amor: Leisure, Pleasure and Alcohol in Ancient Rome

        Books, beers, and barbaric historyÖ whatís not to love? Guest lecturer Dr. Max Nelson, associate professor of language & culture at the University of Windsor, will be at the Institute, exploring the fascinating history of making (and drinking) alcohol in the ancient world. Guests 21 years of age and older are invited to indulge themselves in this fascinating session and learn the history of food, drink, sex, and the games.

        There will be a cash bar for beer and wine purchases. Guests can tour Ancient Rome: Age of the Caesars, and visit the Science Shop to purchase a token of love and make a souvenir beverage coaster. Copies of Nelsonís book, The Barbarianís Beverage: A History of Beer in Ancient Europe will be available for purchase and signing.

        $10 pre-purchase; $15 at the door.
